DESCRIPTION:The EMD is the occasion to pay tribute to “maritime Europe” and put all maritime sectors and activities in the spotlight to help European citizens realise the real outreach and variety of sea-related activities going on in Europe and provoke reflection on the crucial role the seas play in our everyday life. \n\n\n\nIt is the annual event during which Europe’s maritime community meet to network\, discuss and outline joint action on maritime affairs and sustainable blue economy. \n\n\n\nThe EMD is also the place where ‘Ocean Leaders Meet’. It provides an engaging and interactive experience to catch up on the current state of play on a broad range of issues concerning the blue economy and the marine environment and to discuss ways of moving forward. SUMMARY:European Maritime Day
DESCRIPTION:Established in 2008\, European Maritime Day (EMD) is the annual EU meeting point on maritime affairs and sustainable blue growth\, and the place where ‘Ocean Leaders Meet’ as the slogan goes. It is also a public event reaching out to young people and citizens across Europe through local events under the ‘EMD in my Country’ label. \n\n\n\nEMD has not only enabled many project partnerships and co-operations among stakeholders\, it has also contributed to getting the need of sustainable management of ocean resources higher on the EU’s agenda. \n\n\n\nStakeholders generally find the European Maritime Day a great opportunity to touch base with strategic partners\, to make new contacts and network\, get visibility for their projects\, ideas\, activities and achievements\, gain new insights into the evolving EU policy and funding landscape and provide input into European Maritime Policy formulation.  \n\n\n\nEuropean Maritime Day takes place every year at the end of May. The conference takes place in a different EU country each year\, see current list until 2029 below. The cities are selected following a call for interest launched in the Council of Ministers every five years. The latest call took place in 2022.

DESCRIPTION:The 19 projects selected in the Partnership’s first co-funded call will come together for a kick-off meeting in Madrid on 25-26 September 2024. The event will bring together coordinators and other project representatives along with key staff from the Partnership consortium and the European Commission. \n\n\n\nAbout the meeting\n\n\n\nThe meeting serves a dual purpose. Firstly\, it provides a platform for projects to present their work plans\, objectives\, and expected impacts in an open discussion with the Follow-up Group\, responsible for evaluating the projects in the future (for the mid-term and final-term reviews). This will foster connections among peers and identify potential synergies and complementarities between projects. Secondly\, participants will receive essential information for their upcoming 36 months of collaboration and beyond.
